The construction has started!!!

And the construction has started!

And the construction has started!

The elections have made it difficult to organize for the large-scale construction of a water tower extension.  Many Kenyans have been making their way to their rural home, to be safe amongst their tribes as they vote in today’s election, so it has been hard to find fundis (contractors) that are still in the area and able to work.  BUT!  I am so happy to report that thanks to the awesome negotiating skills of our architect, Fred, construction started last week!

Before heading to Tanzania, I was traveling back and forth to the water kiosk to see the construction and help organize the delivery of supplies to streamline the construction process and minimize the cost of labor.

Construction will continue while I am on an election break in Tanzania, so I am so excited to see what it looks like when I get back!

I braved the ladder to climb to the top of the water kiosk where they were crafting the columns that will support the water tank.
